Spring is finally here! The days are getting longer and it is a time for new beginnings. The question is are you ready to embrace it with open arms or are you carrying over an excess of Kapha from the deep winter into spring season?
Some signs that you may of accumulated a bit too much Kapha — the dosha made up of earth and water – over the past few months include:
- Your nose won’t stop running, and your head is stuffed with who knows what.
- Even though you know you should be thrilled the dark days of winter are behind you, you are feeling a bit blah, depressed and in a rut.
- Those extra pounds are having a hard time coming off and your digestion has slowed.
- You are craving sweet, salty and sour foods.
The good news is if any of these are happening to you you should have no fear as you are not alone. Most everyone is prone to having a Kapha imbalance this time of year given that what is going on outside our bodies can manifest inside. The question is what can you do about it?
I recommend considering either a kitchari cleanse or at least trying to incorporate kitchari into your diet once or twice a week. Also focus on eating lighter, warm, bitter, pungent, and astringent foods, such as this nourishing green soup.
