Immediately when I woke up around 5:45am this morning I knew today was going to be a better day. I had no headache, no cravings and even felt awake! I got out of bed and jumped into my morning cleanse routine of warm water with lemon, meditation, making chai and kitchari, eating breakfast then yoga. I learned from my mistake the day before and immediately after yoga had my CCFT, dry brush, shower, abyhanga, then lunch. And because I ate my lunch around noon I wasn’t even that hungry – my body is getting used to this.
I then had the entire day in front of me. I first crossed some important planning items off my list such as my 2017 goals and vision board. It sounds cheesy but I started doing this a few years ago and it really does work. After all, how do you know if you had a good year and what to focus on throughout the year if you don’t ask yourself what is important to you ahead of time? I not only found joy in planning the year ahead but was fulfilled to see that 2016 was a success in terms of last year’s goals. Cleansing is a good time to reflect and recharge so I purposely saved this exercise for this week.
After finishing that and a bunch of other “to dos” I found myself restless and bored. I normally would plan a lot of out and about activities but it was pouring rain so after some battling with myself (I am truly no good at doing “nothing”) I allowed myself to “just be.” I watched a move on Netflix (this time the documentary on Amanda Knox) and then finished the amazing book I was reading “The Nightingale.” I had dinner in between around 6pm and because I was so engrossed in my book made my bedtime 10pm for the first time this week.
The lesson I learned today was that sometimes doing nothing is in fact doing something and exactly what you need.
